The University of Missouri Tigers broke ground on the expansion of the North End Zone and concourse at Faurot Field as they finished their regular season. The planned expansion will add about 2,500 seats for the 2026 football season, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium. The project, initially estimated at $250 million, already has $90 million in commitments and recently closed a seven-figure gift.
Athletic director Laird Veatch highlighted the importance of the groundbreaking, noting that construction is already underway with underground work beginning soon. The renovation not only aims to provide upgraded amenities for fans but is also expected to increase revenue for the athletic department through the addition of premium area seating and suite options, which come with an increase in ticket prices.
Veatch emphasized that the university will provide detailed information to fans in December about how the expansion will impact them and how the fundraising operation will be shifted to make it simpler and easier to understand. The overall goal is to motivate fans to give above and beyond to support the project and invest in the future of Mizzou athletics.
