Camper missing for over 5 weeks in Canada’s Northern Rockies found safe

Sam Benastick, a 20-year-old man from Kamloops, Canada, who went missing while on a camping trip in the Northern Rockies, was found safe after more than five weeks. He was spotted by two individuals headed to work at Redfern Lake trail, who recognized him as the missing person and took him to a hospital for a check-up. Benastick had camped in his car and on a mountainside before settling in a dry creek bed. Kamloops Search and Rescue, along with other search and rescue teams and volunteers, participated in the search effort. The outcome was deemed outstanding, as finding Sam alive was considered the best possible result given the circumstances. Redfern-Keily Park is located around 561 miles north of Vancouver and 486 miles north of Kamloops.
