Missouri Sports Hall of Fame’s Leader Steps Down Amid Financial Troubles

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame has announced the resignation of CEO and executive director Byron Shive, effective December 31, 2024. The MSHOF Board of Directors has unanimously voted to engage former CEO/Executive Director Jerald Andrews as an independent consultant on a part-time basis to serve as interim CEO during the leadership transition. Andrews will oversee day-to-day operations and assist the board in recruiting a permanent replacement for Shive.

During a meeting on November 22, the board addressed financial issues related to the PCCC Tournament and ongoing operations, focusing on bringing accounting records up to date and clarifying the organization’s obligations while ensuring the MSHOF’s mission remains a top priority. The board approved a strategic plan that includes making distributions to charities associated with the tournament, stabilizing current operations, and developing a schedule of events and budget for 2025. This plan includes an Annual Enshrinements event next February and a PCCC Tournament next summer.

The MSHOF is committed to moving forward under new leadership and ensuring the organization’s success in the future. With the guidance of Andrews and the support of the board, the MSHOF will continue to celebrate the achievements of athletes and sports figures from Missouri while serving its community through various events and programs.
