Multiple Cabinet nominees and administration appointees of President-elect Donald Trump were targeted in bomb threats and “swatting” attacks. Swatting is a hoax call meant to draw SWAT teams to a location. The threats were not deemed credible and no devices were found. The FBI is investigating the incidents and urges the public to report suspicious activity. Despite the threats, the Trump transition team stated that they will not be deterred by acts of intimidation. Among those targeted were Rep. Elise Stefanik and former Rep. Matt Gaetz. The threats also targeted individuals who have been viewed as adversaries of Trump in the past. Law enforcement responded promptly to ensure the safety of the individuals targeted. The threats did not involve U.S. Secret Service protectees such as Trump or Vice President-elect JD Vance. The Trump transition team expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by authorities to address the threats. While the exact number and identities of the targets were not disclosed, the transition team remains steadfast in moving forward with the transition process.
