University of Missouri Board Elects New Leadership
Columbia, MO – The University of Missouri Board of Curators has elected Todd Graves as its new chair and Michael Williams as vice chair during a meeting held on Wednesday. Graves, who has been a board member since his appointment in 2021 by Governor Mike Parson, brings significant experience to the role, having previously served as chair of the board’s Finance Committee and as a member of several other key committees. He is an alumnus of the University of Missouri, graduating in 1988, and has an extensive legal background, having served as a prosecuting attorney and worked in both private practice and government positions.
Michael Williams, appointed to the board in 2019, has also had a distinguished career. He served as the board’s chair in 2023 and is a founding partner of Williams Dirks Dameron LLC, specializing in class litigation and labor and employment law. Williams, who also holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Missouri, is noted for his contributions to civil justice and racial equity through various commissions. These distinctions include being the first African American on the Kansas Bar Association Board of Governors.
The previous chair, Robin Wenneker, whose term concludes on December 31, has overseen significant initiatives, including the $250 million Memorial Stadium Improvements Project. Wenneker expressed pride in his tenure, confident that Graves and Williams will continue to advance the university’s mission.
University of Missouri System President and Chancellor Mun Choi congratulated the new leadership, acknowledging their commitment to serving both the university and the state of Missouri. The board’s new leadership is expected to carry forward the strategic plans developed under Wenneker’s guidance.
