The funeral of One Direction star Liam Payne took place in south-east England following his death after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. An autopsy revealed he had traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system. Three people have been charged in connection with the incident. The funeral was a private ceremony attended by family, close friends, former bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles, as well as Payne’s girlfriend at the time of his death, Kate Cassidy, and Cheryl, the mother of his son Bear. Payne’s family described him as kind, funny, and brave, while his bandmates expressed devastation over his passing. Payne gained worldwide fame with One Direction and also had solo success with songs like Strip That Down and Bedroom Floor. Despite finishing third on “The X Factor,” the band sold over 70 million records and had four number one albums on the Billboard Hot 200. Payne’s funeral was a private event, with pallbearers carrying his coffin into the church for the service.
