Missouri Trump legal team members secure prestigious positions

President-elect Donald Trump has chosen two Missouri legal professionals for key roles in his administration. D. John Sauer has been named solicitor general, while Will Scharf will serve as assistant to the president and White House staff secretary. Sauer, who previously served as Missouri solicitor general under Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt, led the state’s unsuccessful efforts to challenge the 2020 election results in support of Trump. He also successfully represented Trump in a case before the U.S. Supreme Court regarding immunity from criminal charges related to the election. Sauer will now be responsible for litigating the federal government’s positions at the Supreme Court.

Scharf, who previously worked for the advocacy organization Judicial Crisis Network and served as an assistant U.S. attorney in St. Louis, will now be responsible for determining which memos and reports reach the president and who should provide input on key issues and speeches. Trump praised Scharf as a highly skilled attorney who will play a crucial role in his White House team. Both appointments have received praise and support from their colleagues and are expected to contribute to Trump’s efforts to “Make America Great Again.”
