Grizzly Men’s Basketball Season Off to a Mixed Start
The Missouri State University West Plains Grizzly Men’s basketball team officially kicked off their season on November 1, 2024, following a series of scrimmage games. As of now, the Grizzlies have played a total of seven games, showcasing a challenging start to their campaign.
Their season opener on November 1 against Des Moines Area Community College ended in a tough loss, with the Grizzlies falling 86-78. The following day, they faced Southeastern Community College, suffering another defeat, this time 81-56. However, the Grizzlies found their rhythm on November 5, claiming a decisive victory over Link Year Prep, winning 85-58.
Despite the promising performance, the Grizzlies matched up against Wabash Valley College on November 8 but came up short again, losing 78-72. They rebounded on November 9 with a strong effort against Southwestern Illinois College, securing a win at 68-61. The team faced Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College next, but unfortunately, they lost 76-68. A recent highlight came on November 19 when the Grizzlies triumphed against Arkansas State-Newport with a 79-72 victory.
The Grizzlies are set to play their next game on Friday, November 22, 2024, against Northeast Mississippi Community College at 7:00 PM. As the season progresses, fans remain hopeful that the team will build on its successes and improve its overall standings.
