Lawsuit Filed Against Royal Caribbean for Ex-Crew Member Placing Hidden Cameras in State Rooms

Royal Caribbean is facing legal issues after passengers filed a lawsuit over hidden cameras placed in state rooms by a former employee, Arvin Mirasol. Mirasol, a former stateroom attendant, is now serving prison time for secretly recording passengers, including videos of naked females undressing and child pornography. The lawsuit claims that Mirasol placed hidden cameras in bathrooms and also hid under beds to record passengers naked. The plaintiffs, represented by attorney Michael Winkleman, argue that Royal Caribbean should also be held accountable for not notifying potentially affected passengers. The lawsuit covers a time frame from December 1, 2023, to February 26, 2024, and Winkleman believes there could be upwards of a thousand people who were affected and have no idea. The plaintiffs hope this lawsuit will bring awareness to the issue and potentially change laws requiring cruise lines to notify passengers of potential video voyeurism. Royal Caribbean has stated that they have zero tolerance for this behavior and immediately reported the case to law enforcement. The ordeal has caused overwhelming anxiety and worry for the plaintiff NBC6 spoke with, who now struggles with sleeping in hotels and using public bathrooms and changing rooms.
