The U.S. Embassy in Israel has lifted its shelter-in-place order for U.S. government employees and their family members due to a diminished threat of missile barrages. Hezbollah claimed they forced Israeli soldiers to retreat from Lebanon’s southern town of Adaisseh, marking the first known ground clashes between the two sides in Lebanon. The Israeli military announced that infantry and armored units are joining the invasion of southern Lebanon to target Hezbollah. Iran warned that any Israeli retaliation will face an even tougher response, following a major ballistic missile attack on Israel that saw nearly 200 missiles launched after days of Israeli attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. The attack resulted in Israeli defenses intercepting a large number of the missiles, with Israeli officials reporting six casualties from a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv. Iran’s foreign minister stated that the missile strikes were a legitimate defensive right and that any further aggression from Israel or its supporters will face harsh repercussions from Iran. The Iranian missile attack was seen as an attempt to restore geopolitical deterrence in the region.
