Jordi Zonneveld, a former oil and gas industry professional, made a life-changing decision to shift his career towards green hydrogen production to combat climate change and create a better world for his three daughters.
Starting his career in the oil and gas industry in the Netherlands, Zonneveld quickly rose through the ranks until he decided that the future of energy lies in transitioning away from fossil fuels. Recognizing the potential of green hydrogen, he led his company, Frames Group, towards this cleaner energy source.
By focusing on producing green hydrogen through clean electricity, Zonneveld believed his company could be part of the solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. His vision was validated when Plug Power, a clean energy company specializing in hydrogen and fuel cells, acquired Frames Group in 2021.
Despite challenges, such as stock volatility and profitability concerns, Plug Power is moving forward with plans to become a global leader in green hydrogen production. With support from the Biden administration and a focus on innovative technology, Plug Power aims to produce over 1,000 tons of green hydrogen per day in the coming years.
Zonneveld’s commitment to a greener future extends beyond his professional life. Driving a hydrogen car and discussing climate change with his daughters, he hopes to set an example for future generations. He believes that by making a change in his career path, he is contributing to a more sustainable world for his children and future generations to come.
