The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate on the 940th day of the war, with multiple developments reported. In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, at least 12 people were injured after Russian forces struck a multistorey building. In Kurakhove, one person was killed in a Russian artillery strike, while two people died in a Russian drone attack in Nikopol.
Ukraine retaliated by hitting two Russian munition depots in the Krasnodar and Tver regions, demonstrating its growing capability to strike deep inside Russia. Russian air defence units destroyed 15 Ukrainian drones targeting various regions in overnight attacks.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of Western allies providing military support in stopping the Russian advance. He also dismissed a peace plan proposed by China and Brazil as too vague. Meanwhile, Russia refused to participate in any follow-up to the Swiss-organised peace summit, claiming the process to be fraudulent.
Overall, tensions remain high between the two countries, with both sides continuing to engage in military confrontations. Zelenskyy’s upcoming meetings in the United States are seen as crucial for ensuring Ukraine’s defense capabilities. As the conflict rages on, the international community watches closely for any potential resolutions to the ongoing crisis.
