Boat crash in Old Saybrook, Connecticut leaves 1 dead and 2 missing


One person died in a boat crash in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, with two others missing and five in the hospital. The 31-foot motorboat carrying nine people hit a jetty at the mouth of the Connecticut River. The boat was returning from Block Island when the crash occurred. A man was found dead in the vessel and six others were hospitalized, with the boat operator in critical condition. It is unclear the extent of injuries sustained by the others. Two people remain missing. The search for the missing boaters was suspended overnight and will resume in the morning. Multiple agencies are involved in the search and recovery efforts. Captain Keith Williams of Connecticut Environmental Police stated that the tide was coming in at the time of the crash.
