Arsenal have rejected a late loan offer from Al-Ittihad for Leandro Trossard, insisting they have no intention of letting the Belgian forward leave. The Saudi Arabian club proposed a £4m initial loan deal with an obligation to make it permanent for about £25m, but Arsenal quickly dismissed the offer. Trossard, who scored against his former club Brighton and had a muted celebration hinting at his frustrations, has been deemed a vital member of the squad by manager Mikel Arteta.
Meanwhile, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has agreed to a season-long loan move to Galatasaray, with the Turkish champions covering his salary. The deal includes a break clause in January. In other transfer news, former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling completed a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Fayha.
The transfer window in Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, and Portugal is still open until Monday night. Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré has joined Benfica on loan, while PSV look set to sign Joel Ndala from City’s academy with an obligation to buy. The deal reportedly includes a buyback clause for the England Under-17 forward. These late transfer moves signal the final days of the summer transfer window, with clubs across Europe making last-minute deals to strengthen their squads.
