First responders and local businesses came together to support the community in the aftermath of a fire at Food Land in Woodbine. The fire was reported on August 19 at 62 Fifth St., leading to a response from the Woodbine Fire Department and mutual aid agencies. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
In a show of appreciation, Good Fellows donated sandwiches and chips to feed the responders, and Food Land expressed gratitude on social media for the support received. The store assured the community that they were already working on rebuilding and reopening.
Food Land also encouraged community members to support other independent grocers in neighboring towns, such as Smitty’s Grocery in Dunlap or Logan Super Foods in Logan. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
This incident highlights the importance of community support and collaboration in times of crisis. The swift response from first responders and the generosity of local businesses have demonstrated the strength of the Woodbine community. As the store begins the process of recovery, they are grateful for the outpouring of support and solidarity from their neighbors.
