Kathie Conway, Former Missouri State Representative, Passes Away at 69

Former Missouri state Rep. Kathie Conway, who served from 2011 to 2019, has passed away at the age of 69 after battling brain cancer. Prior to her political career, Conway worked as a criminal and civil investigator, including positions at the Madison County state’s attorney’s office and General Motors. Conway’s foray into politics came after being laid off during the 2008 recession, leading her to run for office in 2010.

Conway was known for winning her races by wide margins and eventually became the chairwoman of an appropriations committee that funded public safety and corrections departments. She gained national attention in 2018 when she was one of the first GOP lawmakers to call for then-Gov. Eric Greitens to step down after he admitted to an affair. Despite facing backlash from Greitens’ allies, Conway stood by her decision, emphasizing the importance of holding leaders accountable.

After leaving office due to term limits in 2019, Conway was appointed to the Missouri Ethics Commission by Gov. Mike Parson. Conway’s husband, Patrick Conway, a former police officer, passed away in 2023. She is survived by her son, Ryan.

Conway leaves behind a legacy of public service and dedication to upholding ethical standards in government. Her contributions to Missouri politics will be remembered and cherished by those who worked with her.
