Construction nearing completion on $74 million project at Carroll County Career and Technology Center – Baltimore Sun

After more than four years of construction, the Carroll County Career and Technology Center is nearing completion with a cost of about $74 million. The project, funded by both Carroll County and the state, includes adding 108,205 square feet of space to the facility, which originally opened in 1971. Despite the construction, education at the center continued uninterrupted with around 800 students in 24 programs per semester.

Board of Education member Donna Sivigny praised the completion of the four-year phased project as challenging yet successful. Superintendent Cynthia McCabe noted that while the renovation will enhance existing programs, it does not increase the school’s capacity. Instead, the project brings programs up to current standards.

The project, not included in the capital budget for fiscal 2025, is set to be finished before the start of the school year. Construction supervisor Jim Marks commended the group’s efforts in completing the project, calling it one of the hardest they have ever done.

Sivigny expressed excitement for the upcoming completion, calling it a historic moment for the career and technology center. The renovation is expected to improve the quality of programs offered at the center. Despite not increasing student capacity, the upgraded facility will enhance the learning experience for all students.
