Spirit Airlines is introducing new ticket packages that include perks such as free Wi-Fi, checked bags, snacks, and drinks in an effort to increase revenue. The packages range from “Go Big” with premium seating and unlimited snacks to “Go Savvy” with a checked bag or carry-on included. The airline, known for its budget air travel, is competing with larger rivals like United by offering higher-priced options for travelers seeking a more premium experience.
These new ticket packages will be available to book starting August 16, with all four options available on flights starting August 27. Spirit’s move to offer more upmarket seats comes as the airline faces challenges such as engine recalls, oversupplied domestic market, and competition from larger rivals who target both premium and cost-conscious travelers.
Other airlines, such as Southwest and Frontier, are also making changes to attract more customers and increase revenue. Southwest plans to offer premium seats with more legroom, while Frontier started offering blocked middle seats at the front of the plane for a higher price. These airlines are looking to tap into the market of travelers willing to pay for a more premium experience, while still offering budget-friendly options for those looking to save money.
