The Auditor’s Office began the audit on July 23 after city officials requested the review through a resolution. Auditor Fitzpatrick emphasized the importance of providing a complete picture of the situation to the city and its residents so they can understand what happened and prevent similar incidents in the future. The audit was prompted by a credible complaint from a whistleblower, and individuals can provide confidential information for consideration during the audit through the State Auditor’s Whistleblower Hotline.
