A group of prominent white male celebrities and Democratic political operatives came together in a Zoom call in support of Vice President Kamala Harris, who would make history as the first female president if elected. The event, organized by a group called White Dudes for Harris, raised almost $4 million and attracted over 180,000 participants. Actor Jeff Bridges, known for his role as “The Dude” in “The Big Lebowski,” was among the attendees and expressed his excitement about the prospect of a woman president. Other guests included potential vice presidential running mates for Harris like Pete Buttigieg and Tim Walz, who expressed enthusiasm about Harris defeating former President Donald Trump. The event featured a variety of white male celebrities from different industries, as well as Democratic politicians, who spoke candidly about their support for Harris and their conflicted feelings about masculinity and the current political climate. The event aimed to show solidarity with Black women, who have historically supported progressive white men, and to push back against the toxic masculinity and divisiveness represented by Trump and his supporters. The organizers emphasized the importance of white men standing up for progressive values and supporting candidates like Harris.
