Manuela Ferri, a 50-year-old physiotherapist from Vicenza, Italy, has traded in her city life for a summer running a remote mountain lodge with her husband in the Trento region. They took over the management of Rifugio Peller, a rustic mountain hotel located 2,000 metres above sea level. The couple, who have always loved the mountains, decided to make the move after feeling tired of their current routines and longing for a change in scenery.
Running a rifugio comes with its challenges, such as limited resources like water, which is carefully managed due to the hot summer weather. Despite the hard work and adjustments, Manuela is living out her dream and finds relaxation in the fresh air and stunning views. The couple, along with their family, manage the rifugio together, hosting events for guests like musical evenings and lessons on using medical herbs.
Throughout the summer, they will be busy catering to guests and maintaining the rifugio, but they find energy and fulfillment in their new lifestyle. While there is chaos and no set routine at the moment, the couple is enjoying the change and the experience of living in such a remote and beautiful location. The Ferri family’s journey of trading in their city life for a summer in the mountains is a testament to the power of following one’s dreams and embracing new opportunities.
