Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe, and Bill Eigel as the candidates to support in the August 6 Republican primary election in Missouri. Trump made this announcement on social media, stating that any one of these candidates would be a good choice for governor of Missouri. Ashcroft, Eigel, and Kehoe are considered the frontrunners in the race, with other candidates also on the Republican ballot.
All three candidates expressed their gratitude for Trump’s endorsement, with their campaigns releasing statements celebrating the support. Ashcroft’s campaign highlighted that he is the only candidate endorsed by both Missouri Right to Life and President Trump. Kehoe also accepted the endorsement on social media and urged supporters to join in making Missouri great again.
This is not the first time Trump has issued a multi-candidate endorsement in Missouri. In the past, he endorsed both Eric Greitens and Eric Schmitt in a Republican primary for U.S. Senate, with Schmitt ultimately winning the primary and general election. Trump has also previously endorsed former state Sen. Bob Onder in a congressional race in Missouri.
With Trump’s endorsement, Ashcroft, Kehoe, and Eigel are likely to gain increased visibility and support in the lead up to the primary election. Their campaigns have been boosted by Trump’s backing, and they have all pledged to work towards making Missouri a better state if elected.
