Missouri Sports Betting Campaign Reports No Additional Funding Encouraged

Missouri sports betting advocates are eagerly awaiting certification of a ballot measure that could legalize statewide mobile wagering. The campaign, led by Winning for Missouri Education, has raised over $6.5 million, with FanDuel and DraftKings contributing the most. The two sportsbook operators hope their contributions will help push for legal sports betting in Missouri.

Supporters, including major professional sports teams and the casino industry, submitted over 340,000 signatures to get the betting measure on the ballot. The Secretary of State’s office is expected to validate the signatures next month. If approved, the measure will need a majority of statewide voters to approve sports betting in the fall. Early polling shows a close race, but there is no organized opposition group.

FanDuel and DraftKings, along with other sportsbook operators, are ready to open mobile sportsbooks in Missouri if the measure is approved. Combined with support from popular sports teams like the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs, proponents are confident that their contributions will pay off.

Missouri is one of the few states with three teams across major professional sports leagues that does not have legal betting options. With neighboring states already offering sports betting, Missouri sports betting advocates see a potential opportunity to capitalize on the market. If the ballot measure is successful, Missouri could become a key player in the growing sports betting industry.
