X Users Notice Platform Quietly Changes Data Settings to Opt in to Training New AI Model
Several users of the X platform have recently noticed that the platform’s data settings were quietly changed to automatically opt in to training its new artificial intelligence (AI) model called Grok. This new feature appears under the data sharing, privacy, and sharing section in the platform’s settings, asking users if they want to share posts, interactions, inputs, and results with Grok for training and fine-tuning purposes.
Users have the option to opt-out by unchecking a box or putting their accounts on private, but this feature is currently only available on desktop and not on the app version. Premium and Premium+ subscribers can conduct searches with Grok’s assistance, providing them with a more interactive and engaging search experience.
Grok, developed by Elon Musk, is described as the “most powerful AI in the world” and is designed to provide witty and humorous responses while also being insightful. Musk has stated that training Grok on X data will help improve its understanding of human language, develop its sense of humor, and ensure political unbiasedness.
The platform changes come shortly after Musk announced that he is training Grok to become the most powerful AI in the world on supercomputers in Memphis. XAI has already started training Grok on a variety of text data from public databases, and the introduction of X data will further enhance the model’s capabilities.
Overall, the introduction of Grok on the X platform signifies a new era of AI development, providing users with enhanced search capabilities while also advancing AI technology to new levels of sophistication.
