A recent study conducted by KCUR has found that Missouri ranks among the worst states in the country for women’s health and reproductive care. The study, which analyzed various factors including access to healthcare services, reproductive rights, and overall health outcomes, placed Missouri at the bottom of the list.
According to the study, Missouri has some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the United States, which severely limit women’s access to reproductive care. Additionally, the state has a high rate of maternal mortality, with women of color being disproportionately affected. Lack of access to affordable healthcare services and insurance coverage were also cited as contributing factors to the poor state of women’s health in Missouri.
Furthermore, the study found that Missouri has a significant wage gap between men and women, with women earning only 78 cents for every dollar earned by men. This economic disparity can make it difficult for women to afford necessary medical care and services, further exacerbating the state’s poor health outcomes for women.
Advocates for women’s health and reproductive rights are calling for increased access to healthcare services, comprehensive sex education, and policies that support gender equality in order to improve the overall health and well-being of women in Missouri.
