IgnitED Conference Provides Cost-Effective Professional Development Opportunities for Educators in Missouri (7/23/24)

The Jackson School District recently hosted its sixth annual IgnitED Educational Conference at Jackson High School, providing Missouri educators with an affordable opportunity for professional development. With 236 educators from over 30 school districts in attendance, IgnitED only costs each participant $25, compared to the average cost of $250 for other conferences. Attendees had the opportunity to choose from over 50 breakout sessions focusing on instructional strategies and technology integration, including popular topics such as Google in the classroom and AI.

Kristie Brownsberger, a math teacher at Jackson High School, described IgnitED as the most professional development she receives all year, highlighting the usefulness of the diverse session options. Presenters shared their valuable insights and resources, giving attendees plenty to unpack and explore after the event.

The conference was inspired by the South Central Learning Summit in Rolla, and features presentations from retired teacher Brenda Spurgeon, a favorite among attendees. Brownsberger, who has been to every IgnitED conference, praised the conference for its customization, allowing educators to attend sessions tailored to their specific needs and interests.

Overall, IgnitED was a successful event that provided attendees with valuable knowledge and tools to enhance their teaching practices. With its affordable cost, diverse session options, and focus on the latest trends in education, IgnitED continues to be a recommended professional development opportunity for educators in Missouri.
