The ongoing Israeli military attacks in Gaza have killed dozens of Palestinians including a local journalist, with the death toll nearing 39,000. The strikes have hit various parts of the territory, with the Palestinian Civil Defence retrieving bodies from different areas affected by Israeli bombings. Journalist Muhammad Abu Jasser, along with his wife and children, were among those killed in the attacks. The Gaza Government Media Office reported that 161 Palestinian journalists have been killed since the start of the war.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 37 people were killed by Israeli forces over the last 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 38,919. The blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza has led to a hunger crisis in the territory, and health concerns have been raised due to sewage spills around displaced people’s encampments.
The Ministry of Interior in Gaza warned against citizens moving from north to south in the territory, accusing Israel of using psychological pressure to displace Palestinians further. The international community has been urged to intervene to stop the Israeli attacks, with Hamas accusing Israel of escalating violence in response to a recent ruling by the International Court of Justice declaring the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories illegal.
Hamas has vowed that Israel’s “crimes” will not go unpunished, and the group’s military wing has claimed attacks against Israeli forces. The United Nations has been called upon to intervene to stop the violence and end what Palestinians see as a campaign of terror with the support of the American administration.
