Missouri tourists cleared of charges in altercation at The Villages

Missouri vacationers Katherine Northrup and Gina Danforth will not be charged in relation to a girl fight that occurred in The Villages in Florida. The decision was announced by the prosecutor’s office in Sumter County Court following an altercation between the two women on May 6 at a home in the Village of Citrus Grove. Prior to the announcement, Northrup’s attorney had indicated that a self-defense claim was being prepared.

The incident, which involved screaming, spitting, pushing, punching, and hair pulling, took place at a residence where the women were staying while on vacation. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a golf cart and tickets to Disney World. Despite suffering scratches on her neck, elbow, and stomach, Northrup was checked out by EMS at the scene. Danforth, who was transported to the hospital due to not feeling well, was also involved in the altercation.

Although both women were initially arrested on misdemeanor charges of battery, the officers were unable to identify a primary aggressor due to a lack of credible witnesses. Ultimately, the decision was made not to pursue charges against Northrup and Danforth. With the case now closed, the Missouri vacationers can put this incident behind them and continue enjoying their time in Florida.
