A flash flood warning is in effect until 8 AM CDT for several counties in central Missouri, with thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible, causing flash flooding of small creeks, streams, urban areas, and other low-lying areas. Some locations likely to experience flash flooding include Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, and Mexico. Interstate 70 in Missouri is also affected between exits 115 and 183.

In addition, a flood watch remains in effect through late tonight for parts of Illinois and Missouri, with excessive rainfall potentially leading to flooding of rivers, creeks, and streams. A flood warning is also in place for several rivers in Missouri, including the Missouri River at Washington, Jefferson City, Hermann, and St. Charles.

The flood warning continues for other rivers in Missouri and Kansas, with areas like Boonville, Glasgow, Atchison, and Miami being affected. Residents are advised to turn around and avoid flooded roads, as most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles. River levels are being monitored closely, and updates will be provided as conditions change.

The Missouri River at Boonville is currently experiencing minor flooding, with low-lying rural areas along the river expected to be affected. Farm levees may be overtopped, leading to flooding of agricultural land and secondary roads. The river is forecasted to rise to a crest of 26.3 feet before falling below flood stage early next week. Residents are urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions during this period of increased flood risk.
