The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Flash Flood Warning for several counties in central and east-central Missouri until 8:00 AM CDT. Thunderstorms producing heavy rain have caused between 1.5 and 3 inches of rainfall, with additional amounts of 1 to 3 inches possible, leading to ongoing or expected flash flooding. Areas such as Columbia, Jefferson City, and Fulton are expected to experience flash flooding, including Rock Bridge State Park and other state parks.
In addition, a Flood Watch remains in effect for various areas in Illinois and Missouri through late tonight, with the potential for excessive rainfall leading to flooding of rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. The Flood Warning continues for several rivers in Missouri, with river levels expected to rise significantly due to recent and forecasted precipitation.
Residents are advised to turn around and avoid driving through flooded roads to prevent accidents. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as conditions change. People in affected areas should stay updated on weather forecasts and be prepared to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued. For more information, visit the National Weather Service website.
