Donald Trump’s political action committee, Save America, made payments to the law firm representing Boris Epshteyn before his criminal trial in Arizona. Epshteyn, a former adviser to Trump, is facing charges related to an alleged fake elector scheme in Arizona after the 2020 election. The payments to the law firm of Tully Bailey LLP were the PAC’s first disbursements to the firm. It is unclear if the payment was directly tied to Epshteyn’s legal representation.
While Epshteyn received financial support from Save America for his legal expenses, none of the other co-defendants in Arizona or Georgia with ties to Trump have received similar support. Save America and Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign have spent over $90 million covering legal-related expenses, with the majority attributed to Save America.
The PAC has made payments for legal consulting to law firms representing co-defendants like Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, but there have been no recent disbursements to these firms. Save America also made payments to other law firms representing individuals close to Trump during investigations, including former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
Overall, Save America has supported legal expenses primarily on behalf of Trump and some of his associates, including Epshteyn. The organization did not respond to inquiries about whether they have covered legal expenses for other co-defendants in Georgia or Arizona. The significant financial support provided by Save America raises questions about the extent of Trump’s involvement in legal matters related to the 2020 election and other ongoing investigations.
