Fatal crashes in Missouri on the rise, up by 31% since 2014

According to a recent report by the National Transportation Research Group, deadly crashes have increased by 31% in the past decade, despite a temporary decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. While traffic deaths decreased by 2% in 2021, overall deadly crashes have been on the rise. The loosening of restrictions in 2021 led to an increase in deadly crashes, which then fell again in 2023.

In Missouri, the State Highway Patrol Troop F has reported 18 deadly car crashes since the beginning of the year in counties such as Audrain, Boone, Callaway, and others. Shockingly, around 61% of those involved in these crashes were not wearing seatbelts.

The report highlights the importance of implementing solutions to improve traffic safety and address the growing crisis of traffic fatalities in the United States. As the situation continues to evolve, updates on this issue will be provided.

This increasing trend in deadly crashes serves as a reminder for all drivers to prioritize safety while on the road and to adhere to traffic regulations and wear seatbelts to reduce the risk of serious accidents.
